McKenzie County Skills Initiative Reception

Reception to Highlight Career- Workforce- and Business-Development Efforts in McKenzie County

An informational reception for the McKenzie County Skills Initiative will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 5-7pm at the Rough Rider Center. Seeking to respond to the changing workforce needs, the McKenzie County Job Development Authority brought together various institutions that provide training opportunities into the newly-formed McKenzie County Skills Initiative.

"Sometimes the need is a day-long training session, a semester-long class, or maybe an advanced degree," says Daniel Stenberg director of the McKenzie County Job Development Authority. "We now have institutions that can help meet those needs, and they are doing it right here in Watford City. We see this reception as an opportunity to showcase the current offerings and hear from the public what they are looking for in terms of further opportunities."

At the reception, the University of Mary, Williston State College, and TrainND will showcase what they offer for services in Watford City’s Rough Rider Center. Watford City High School will also share about their workforce and career development efforts with their Cooperative Work Experience, Career and Tech Ed Center, and the Career Development programs. The Small Business Development Center will have information about the free and confidential services they provide for those looking to start or expand a business.

The Buzz

In Watford I got to go to my first National Park. I made some friends and we went to the badlands and saw things we never heard of before like jackrabbits and mule deer. In my opinion Watford is the best city ever!
